Help and Support for Carers at Breaking Point

A powerful healing technique to support exhausted carers NOW!

The Carers Healing Technique

Until something is done to alter the way we value our carers, the situation will never change! Carers will continue to be taken for granted, pressurised by their own emotional feelings, exhausted, frustrated with bureaucracy and the benefits system, and stretched to breaking point. Any carer will tell you that caring for a loved one can be a stressful experience. But, it also has its rewards.

According to a recent poll, the pressure of being a carer has forced three out of four carers to reach 'breaking point'. Don't wait for this to happen to you, the Carers CD can help: Order your copy today! - CD or MP3

Who cares for carers? Feeling ignored and invisible?

There are over 5 million carers in Britain today (3.3 million women and 2.4 million men). A happy elderly couple using a computer One in eight adults provides informal care to a loved one and one in six households (17%) contains a carer. Of these 5+ million carers, 1.7 million (or 30%) spend at least 20 hours per week in their caring role, and around 2 million spend at least 50 hours per week on the same activity. At this point, caring is like having a full-time job with compulsory overtime, but without the pay.

Coping with the illness of a loved one can be tough, and the pressure on carers can often lead to physical and emotional problems, like stress related illness, including depression, anxiety, exhaustion, sleep deprivation, and financial worries.

Sometimes the pressure and strain is so extreme, a carer can suffer a breakdown, while others have even attempted suicide.

The plight of the young carer. Unsupported and isolated?

Surely not in this day and age?! Oh, yes! It is estimated that, in Britain, there are between 15,000 and 40,000 young carers (under the age of 18), many receiving no support at all from statutory or voluntary services.
Frequently effects can include the following:

Child Carer
Loss of education and development
Isolation from other children of the same age
Conflict between caring for another and own needs
Insecurity growing into adulthood
No time for play, sport or leisure
Missed opportunities and limited future
Feeling trapped or stigmatised
Lack of recognition or assistance
Adult Carer
Cannot fully pursue preferred activities
Isolation from family, friends and even neighbours
Sacrifice self for the benefit of another
Insecurity and fears
Little time for self
Limited time to work toward independence
Feeling held back or put on by family members
Struggling with health or finances

What does 'breaking point' mean, in the context of a carer?

One study revealed that over 50% of carers had suffered a physical injury, such as a strained back, since they began to care. Whilst 52% had been treated for stress-related illness since becoming carers.

When family member takes on the role of carer New research issued to launch Carers Week 2009 shows that almost three-quarters (74%) of people providing unpaid care to a loved one who is frail or disabled, have reached breaking point. Breaking point, means, needing care themselves, through the onset of strain induced depression, anxiety, anger, exhaustion, physical injury, and the guilt of wanting to leave, or give up their caring role because they just can't cope anymore.

The absurdity of the situation is clear from this finding: One Princess Royal Trust for Carers survey showed, 94% of carers were providing crucial medical care but only 33% had received training or guidance of any kind. So not only are you among the most responsible people in the caring profession, you are the least well equipped.

Marital distress in couples can also be a significant factor, when the object of care is an infant or young child who is chronically ill. Knowing how to listen to each other, when to talk to each other, and sensing when just 'being there' is all that the other partner needs, are a few of the greatest skills a carer can have. But even so, it is important not to underestimate the amount of pressure couples are under in these circumstances.

Many carers find it hard to focus on their own feelings and wellbeing, so they put all their energy into the person they are caring for. There will be times when this is necessary but there are going to be times when it will be extremely important to take care of your OWN needs first. You may feel you don't have enough time to do things for yourself. Indeed, I often hear this from patients at The Haven Healing Centre. You may worry that taking time out for your own needs may impact on the quality of care you can give. But I tell you now, if you don't, eventually, your overall health and wellbeing may suffer. You can manifest the very thing you fear the most, your own ill-health, which may make it difficult to look after the other person.

Phil, how can your CD help me? I've tried everything!
No....not yet. You haven't tried everything. Otherwise you would have found the answer and would have stopped looking. The fact that you landed here means you are still searching.
Essentially, the problem may boil down to:
• Not enough resources.
        • Not enough time.
                • Not enough support.
                        • Not enough energy.
Rarely does it amount to: Not enough love, not enough hope, or not enough caring. You already have those in abundance. But the shine can be rubbed off through attrition, harassment and pressure. Let's look at this logically.
Being cared for in hospital. Man with a visitor Not enough resources: To stand your ground and go through the system, takes stamina and courage. Why? Because the success of social service arrangements for carers depends on co-operation and joint working with other agencies - particularly the health service. Tensions between health and social services staff can, and often does, inhibit effective co-working. This takes endeavour and ENERGY!
Not enough time: Things take longer when you're tired and drained, sleep deprived and exasperated. You can't concentrate, things get muddled, you make mistakes and cleaning up the mess takes longer. All of these need ENERGY!
Not enough support: So often, even if there are other family members who could help, they don't, and 'the buck stops here!' so to speak. Your financial situation may not be up to much and this can impact on the quality of care you can physically provide. So if you're doing it alone, either by choice or lack of help from others, you need ENERGY!
Not enough energy: You feel tired all the time, you can't sleep, the tablets the doctor gave you make you drowsy. You need to recharge your batteries. In short, you need ENERGY!

I think we've established, you need energy to do all of these things, but that's the one thing you're short on. So where do you get this extra energy?

How the energy recovery system works: The CD will actively help you manage your energy through a simple relaxation technique. It will help you encourage and develop and maintain your energy at a high level. It will help you manage your thought processes and find an anchor, that uses the 'Law of Attraction' in your life to bring these things to you in abundance. Listen to the CD, follow along, and imagine being rested, joyful, energetic and happy. Do your best to constantly raise your own vibration, your 'buzz', and therefore, your energy levels. This will help you deal with the unexpected, and still have plenty in reserve.

Here's what you can do: You sit in a chair, play the CD and follow the instructions. Then go back to your life and see what happens. That's it! I promise you, it's as simple as that! I believe this CD could substantially increase the length of time you are able to care for your loved one at home and increase your sense of well-being and adjustment, significantly relieving your caregiver burden, as well as improving your health and stamina.

This CD sells all over the world and here is what some people have said:
  •   Dear Phil, I need to tell you, I have been caring for my husband for over 20 years..... I read your CD page and thought, there's a breath of fresh air about this chap. Anyway, my daughter Judith, said I should buy your Carers CD because I am always ill and tired. I take 6 tablets a day for heart, blood and nerves, but I've never felt so good as when I listen to your voice. Anybody looking after a relative would love this. Best wishes, Beth Williams. •   Phil, I bought your CD for my dad. Mum has dementia and goes into a nursing home once a month for a day, sometimes two. On his respite days, dad listens to it over and over. He finds it very uplifting and is grateful to you for doing it. Regards Colin. (Colin lives in the UK)
Phil's Comment: Thanks Colin, I'm always pleased to hear back how much the CD is helping carers.
